In light of recent events involving Penny Appeal, we’d firstly like to acknowledge Penny Appeal’s efforts in commissioning a full and independent report into the safeguarding issue at hand in The Gambia.
In addition, Penny Appeal has also contacted the Charity Commission by way of a Serious Incident Report.
As stipulated in our fundraising agreement (clause 14.3) with charities, both parties have the right to end the relationship should either of them fall into disrepute.
Whilst we wait for the outcome of the investigation, we will be suspending donations to Penny Appeal.
We hope for a quick and positive resolution.
